Purpose and Rationale: 

This unit standard The registered statements of desired education and training outcomes and their associated assessment criteriais designed to empower learners to address common safety, security and environmental risks in order to make their homes and communities safer and more secure places in which to live and work. It is intended for the sustainable enhancement of community and neighbourhood development. 

The qualifying learner Any person receiving education and training (in terms of the ABET Act of 2000)is capable of

  • Identifying potential exposures to personal safety risk.
  • Identifying potential exposure to fire risks.
  • Identifying potential exposures to security related risks.
  • Identifying potential exposures to community and environmental risks.
  • Investigating security, safety and environmental risks in the local environment or neighbourhood
