Purpose and Rationale: 

This Unit Standard The registered statements of desired education and training outcomes and their associated assessment criteriais for any learner Any person receiving education and training (in terms of the ABET Act of 2000)who needs to demonstrate an understanding of sexuality and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS, and the impact of these infections on oneself, as well as in the workplace and society. It is also aimed at encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of sexuality.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the nature, transmission and prevention of sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS.
  • Describe means to cope and deal with sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS.
  • Describe human rights of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. 

This Unit Standard The registered statements of desired education and training outcomes and their associated assessment criteriais intended for any person, from all backgrounds within South African society. It may be used as a core or elective within a GETC or any vocationally based qualification.The formal recognition of the achievement of the required number and range of credits and other requirements at specific levels of the NQF determined by the relevant bodies registered Officially registered (recorded) in terms of the National Qualifications Frameworkby SAQA
